An interior door consists not only of the door panel, but also always of either a door frame—the traditional type—a trim frame, or a frame assembly. For many, this is simply a structural necessity. At DANA, however, we see it as a key design element. After all, it is only with the frame that your door is complete; for us, this means that the frame also plays a significant role in the overall look of your living space.

Not just a minor detail: the door frame.
This classic frame serves an important purpose: The door frame acts as the link between the wall and the door panel. It conceals the raw wall opening, completes the door’s overall appearance, and supports the weight of the door panel, transferring it to the wall. Consisting of a rebate trim, a jamb, and a decorative trim, the strike plate and the mounting for the door hinges are integrated into the frame.
However, the following questions must first be clarified:
Classic combination.
In this version, the door is rebated, meaning the door panel has an L-shaped edge on three sides—a single rebate. This creates what is known as an overhanging edge, which rests on or extends beyond the door frame when the door is closed. Conventional hinges—DANA’s Twin hinges—are mounted on this overhang. A latch lock is installed as standard on rebated doors. For those who prefer a simple, minimalist design down to the last detail, a magnetic latch lock is also available as an option. The strike plate is not visible on the door frame, and the magnetic latch does not protrude when the door is open.
Elegant beauty – DANA MODUL.
In this design, the door is flush: The door panel has a straight edge on all sides, meaning it is not stepped. When closed, the frame and door form a single plane, which is why special hinges are required. Concealed Tectus hinges—as the name suggests, these are not visible—emphasize the strong, linear design of these doors. Another option is surface-mounted hinges. These hinges are visible on the door leaf. For a thoroughly elegant look, the magnetic latch lock is standard on flush doors, as the strike plate on the frame is not visible here.
Pure minimalism – DANA PLANO.
This is also a flush-mounted design – the edge of the door panel is not stepped. But this version stands out thanks to another unique feature: here, the door panel, frame, AND wall form a single surface. This requires special, concealed hinges, and the magnetic latch lock with its discreet strike plate is installed as standard.

Frames can also stand out by being “invisible”: In our KONTEXT model, for example, the frame is not visible. This plays a key role in giving this version its distinctive look.
Stylish down to the last detail: Z-Audienz door frame
We’ve come up with a special feature for our classic white model—the AUDIENZ. Here, you’ll find the door’s characteristic bevels repeated in the door frame as well. The result is a seamless, cohesive look in a high-quality white finish.
FRAME MOUNTING PLATES AND FRAME STRIPS FOR SPECIAL INSTALLATION OPTIONS.
The solution for anyone who wants to install their interior doors in a slightly different way. For example, centered in the wall opening or mounted in front of it. This requires the right frame: either the DANA cover frame or the frame stock.
Please note that with these special installation options, the wall opening must be plastered, as there is no conventional door frame to enclose the raw wall opening.
