You have a wide range of design options, from the type of glass and finishing techniques to the motif. Please note that the type of glass you choose depends on the shape of the glass cutout. Not every type of glass is suitable for every cutout. We recommend viewing the glass designs in person at one of our showrooms, and we’re happy to assist you in selecting the right glass. Types of Glass

Our glass range includes two different types of glass:

Float

When the glass is clear and translucent, we refer to it as float glass. It has a minimalist look, divides the space, yet still lends it a sense of openness and a bright, welcoming atmosphere.

Satin-Finish Glass

Glass with a “milky,” satin-finish surface is the perfect choice for rooms that need to be bright but not fully visible from the outside, such as a bathroom.

Both types of glass are available in white (pictured left), gray (pictured center), or clear (pictured right):

Conventional Float Glass vs. Clear Glass

The difference between “regular” glass and clear glass is the greenish tint. This tint is typical of conventional float glass and is particularly noticeable along the edges. White glass, on the other hand, has almost no green tint. As this type is becoming increasingly popular, there are already many DANA glass doors and glass panels available in white glass. Ideal for rooms without a natural light source, as light and heat transmission is even better compared to regular glass.

What are the advantages of glass doors or cutouts?

  • Complements many interior styles
  • Bright, open, and inviting spaces

Finishing Techniques & Design

When it comes to design motifs, there is certainly something to suit every style—from very subtle and understated to a standout design element in the room. Here’s how the motifs are applied to or embedded in the glass:

Design Frosting Print

Using this finishing technique, the patterns are fused into the glass at 700 °C. This makes them not only brilliant and easy to maintain, but also durable. In addition, for many designs, you can choose between printing in color, satin-finished glass (white), blue-gray, and black.

Grooved finish

This popular finish guarantees a relief-like appearance and a wonderfully intriguing texture, as grooves are ground directly into the glass.

Laser technology

State-of-the-art technology brings varied motifs into the glass—right into the very center. This keeps the surface smooth and makes it extremely easy to clean.
